THE COOPERATION OF NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION
As technological development is a distinctive characteristic of the current global era, and hence the information circulation accelerated to a great extent, scientific studies are no longer conducted within small and limited boundaries. For that particular reason, Gazi University has initiated a cooperation process with domestic and foreign universities, both at level of students and academic personnel. The most significant component of this process is the studies carried out in relation to the Sokrates-Erasmus exchange programme. In 2004-2005 academic year, total 36 students from different departments of the university were sent to European universities. Furthermore, one student from the Helsinki University (Finland) came to our University within the framework of this program.
Detailed information on the Erasmus Exchange Program can be found at the university web-site.
Gazi University is a member of the European Universities Association. In this context, the university actively participates in the relevant meetings, and follow the most recent developments and actively take part its decision making process.
Further co-operations at various levels are built with the universities from Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, especially in the fields of health sciences and sports.
Similar relationships and co-operations are promoted with the universities from Bulgaria, Romania, Slovakia and Czech Republic.
Moreover, cooperation activities are also initiated with the universities in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. Especially in accordance with the protocol signed between the Eastern Mediterranean University and Gazi University-Faculty of Medicine, students from Eastern Mediterranean University-Faculty of Medicine will be able to continue their practical education here at the Gazi University-Faculty of Medicine.
Besides, some cooperation activities with the universities from USA and Canada do still continue.
It is therefore among the short-term objectives to become an international university in a short period of time, and hence to speed up the international cooperation activities.
