CULTURE AND ARTS

Gazi University as the Centre of Arts and Culture

Gazi University is not only an academic and educational institution, but also a centre of arts and culture. Many facilities relating to arts and culture are provided for our students. These facilities range from music to theatre, painting to sculpture, and from scientific activities to entertainment; and they are all at your service.

Knowing that being a university student does not only mean studying and getting high marks, the university puts a great emphasis on arts and culture. A graduate student, who was just a freshman 4 years ago, should leave the university not sad and gloomy, but with excitement and joy, having a confidence that she or he has a bright future ahead. Classes and subsequent reading lists are not enough in order to raise trustworthy, determined, extraverted students who have a certain background about things. In this respect, taking part in cultural and artistic activities and internalising them in the due course do have as many advantages as the classic university education.

Our university provides students with active and colourful environment in terms of cultural and artistic activities. Operating under almost every faculty and vocational high school, plenty of student clubs undertake the organisation of various events such as symposiums, panels, conferences, seminar, concerts and etc.

Furthermore, university's Student Council organises various events as well as serious and extensive organisations at the university-wide, and especially at the beginning and in the end of each academic year. Those activities are warmly welcomed and supported in the university environment.

Fine Arts departments within the university such as painting, music and graphic design do also provide a remarkable contribution for the realisation of artistic and cultural activities. For instance, Department of Fine Arts Teaching, Music Teaching Programme accompanies to almost all symposiums, panels and conferences organised under the university. Cinema and theatre performances are also among the common activities performed at our university.

Student activities are particularly supported and encouraged by Dean's Offices, Academic Directorates and University Administration at our university.
